Back To School Night

Posted in News & Announcements

Back to School Night will be held on Tuesday, September 1 at 6:00 pm. We will meet in the gym for a brief meeting and then dismiss for three 20 minute sessions. These 20 minute sessions are the opportunity for you to visit your child’s classroom and hear about what is going on in the class directly from the teacher.   Because these are informational meetings for you as parents and guardians, we encourage you to leave your children home if at all possible. Again, our general meeting will begin at 6:00 pm and we will begin our first classroom session around 6:35 pm.

Welcome from Mr. Robinson

Sandy Sharks,                           Letter_in_Spanish.pdf

My name is Mr. McKay Robinson. I am the recently appointed principal of your fantastic school. It is an honor to be a part of this great community and exceptional school.

It has been a dream of mine since I was a student in third grade to become an educator. I had a teacher who became more than just a teacher to me. He became a father figure as well as my teacher and he inspired me to reach my full potential on a daily basis. It was then that I decided that I wanted to be just like him. Since that time in third grade, I have worked earnestly to reach this point and have observed and learned from some of the best educators throughout my life.

I love working in education and have spent the majority of my career in elementary schools. I was a fourth grade teacher for several years in two different schools on both sides of the valley. Most recently, I served as the principal at Lone Peak Elementary. Before that, I spent time as an assistant at Southland and Heartland Elementary Schools. I have also spent some time as an administrator in a middle school and in a high school. It is the many and varied experiences during my career in education which I hope to draw upon to help sustain Sandy as the best school in our district.

As you are all aware, I am surrounded by an amazing group of people that are committed to providing the best education possible for all students. We will continue to work diligently and collaboratively to provide wonderful learning opportunities for each of your children.

I believe it truly does “take a village to raise a child.” Therefore, I ask for your continued support and encourage you to find ways to get involved in your child’s education here at Sandy Elementary. I see great purpose in parents being in the classrooms to support the educational progress of our students. Become involved! Be active in your child’s learning! Volunteer at the school in a number of ways. There is a strong message sent to your children when they see you involved in their education.

I look forward to getting to know you and each of our students here at Sandy. We will continue to be an outstanding school! Please feel free to stop in and introduce yourselves, ask questions, or give comments. I look forward to working closely with our community.
