COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA

Agenda Items:

1. Welcome and call meeting to order 
2. Instate new members for the current year
   1. Verify information for all members present: Roster information was reviewed and verified. 
   2. Elect chair and vice-chair: The SCC voted and elected Kara Olsen as the SCC Chair and Rob Archuleta as the Vice- Chair. 
3. SCC By-Laws & SCC open meeting requirements
   1. Review: Shawn Walker reviewed and discussed the by-laws in depth. 
4. Review end-of-year data from May: Goals from last year were reviewed. Informational Title 1 videos were shared with the community via the website and ParentSquare. Details of the goals were explained. Shawn reflected on goal met and opportunities to improve. Our Sandy Teachers are working so hard and our students are progressing. 
5. Review Land Trust and TSSA plans for current year: New goals were discussed for the upcoming school year. (Reading, Math, and Climate Goals) Data including students with disabilities and ML students were discussed and analyzed. Growth rate for those specific groups has been dismal- we are in the bottom 5% during pursuant years. Our AVID partnership will work to help us increase rigor, provide more meaningful Professional Development opportunities for Teachers, and assist our students in becoming critical thinkers. AVID will assist us as we attempt to increase scholarly pride at our school. 
6. School Safety and Security: First Fire Drill 9/1/2023
   1. Safety Drill report for August/September: District has improved emergency procedures and systems. 
7. Set Meeting Dates (2nd Thursdays?): We will meet the first Tuesday of each month, if possible at 3:10 pm. 
   1. Present the specific dates: October 3rd, Nov. 7th, Dec. 5th, Jan. 16th, Feb. 6, March 5th, April 16, May 7th.
